A revitalized Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden championship for 882 days with victory over opponent Moutet in the tournament title decider.

Medvedev, a former number one, has had a challenging period, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him dropping out of the world's top 10 and ultimately parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently working with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily improved in the last few weeks - culminating in a closely contested three-set triumph over opponent Moutet.

This represents Medvedev's initial championship following the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard surface from March of the previous year.

The win also signifies the Russian has won twenty-one victories at twenty-one distinct competitions.

"For the first time I'm at a event with my two daughters together, so to win a title is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Daniil Medvedev.

"This title is in honour of my child my daughter, because the initial championship I won when my older daughter Alisa was born was for her."

Medvedev, the former major winner, had failed in his past six finals, comprising in the German tournament previously this season.

His retrieving strategy and recurring emotional displays on court had prompted observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was finished.

Yet the player has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to come to the net and play positively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

Medvedev came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Frenchman, winning 4 of the final five points to take the lead.

The pair exchanged break points in the following set before Moutet, attempting for his maiden ATP Tour championship, gained dominance to force a third set.

Moutet rescued four initial opportunities in a close third set before the Russian broke to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, the winner secured the win with a point at the front of the court, with his opponent failing to manage a return after a lengthy match.
